Warframe damage types, faction by faction

Checked against Warframe 44.0

Every faction takes +50% from two damage types and shrugs off one. The whole table, current as of Update 44 — and why the old eleven-health-type chart you have bookmarked no longer describes the game.

If you have a damage chart bookmarked, there is a good chance it is wrong.

For eleven years Warframe priced damage against health types: Cloned Flesh, Ferrite Armor, Alloy Armor, Proto Shield, Fossilized, Infested Sinew, Machinery, Robotic. Every enemy was made of two or three of them, every damage type had a different percentage against each, and the result was a chart with about a hundred and forty cells, most of them holding a different number.

Update 36 deleted it. Not simplified — deleted, and replaced with something you can hold in your head.

Before Update 36

Eleven health, armour and shield types. Thirteen damage types. Modifiers from −75% to +75%, nearly all of them different. A chart you consult.

Update 36 onwards

Enemies have one health type: their faction. Each faction takes more from two damage types and less from at most one. Every modifier is the same size.

Every number in the current system is ±50%. There are no others.

That last line is the whole mechanic. You are not learning a table of values; you are learning which two damage types go with which enemy, and the size never varies.

The whole thing, in one screen

Green is what hurts them. Red is what they shrug off.

From the WARFRAME Wiki's damage pages, CC BY-SA, read 30 September 2026. Tenno health — yours, and a Specter's — takes no faction modifier at all, and Objects take none either.

The other way round: you already have the weapon

You rarely pick a weapon for an enemy. You pick a mission, and you want to know whether what is already built is a good idea.

Red is where the same element is refused. Corrosive is the clearest case: it is the answer to every Grineer in the game and the wrong answer to a Sentient.

Three things worth knowing

Corrosive is not what it was

It used to strip armour as a status effect and beat Ferrite on top of that. Armour still exists and Corrosive still strips it — but the +50% now applies to the Grineer as a faction, not to the armour underneath.

Two elements, one slot

Corrosive is Electricity + Toxin, Viral is Cold + Toxin, Magnetic is Cold + Electricity. Combining is how you reach a faction's weakness without owning a weapon that already has it.

Overguard ignores all of this

An Eximus's Overguard takes no faction modifier. Strip it first; the faction rules start applying to what is underneath.

Where these numbers come from

The WARFRAME Wiki’s own damage pages — one per faction, Damage/Grineer and its siblings — read on 30 September 2026, against Update 44. Every modifier on this page is ±50%, because that is the only size the current system uses; if you find a chart with a −75% or a +25% on it, you are looking at the pre-Update-36 game.

The predecessors are still listed on those pages, which is how you can tell at a glance: Grineer’s page names Cloned Flesh, Ferrite Armor, Alloy Armor and Machinery as what it replaced, all of them “since Update 36.0”.
